In Accous, in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, the Saint-Martin church is undergoing an ambitious restoration project. Classified, ancient and precious, the building is also fragile. To secure the work, the BGEA STRUCTURES SUD-OUEST study office called upon a connected solution: our sensors allowed for continuous monitoring of the state of the vaults and the central nave throughout the interventions.
The context: an ancient building, sensitive work
The project, led by the SARL ARREBAT and managed by Patrick Etchevers, aimed to reinforce the vaults and repair the cracked masonry of the Saint-Martin church. A complex scaffolding was set up to reach the most vulnerable areas, while minimising risks to the building.
But monitoring cracks in a structure of this nature is no small task. Access is limited, and the margins for manoeuvre are small. This is where our sensors come in.
The installed solution
- 2 DELTA L+ to measure the opening of cracks
- 2 DELTA R to monitor inclinations
- 1 DELTA L+ mini to track movements in a more localized area
Thanks to our mobile application, the data is accessible remotely, alerts can be configured in just a few clicks, and PDF reports are generated automatically to accompany the stages of the site.
Objective: leave nothing to chance
By equipping the vaults and the nave, the project team has implemented a continuous monitoring system. Result: a better anticipation of risks, fewer site visits, and a faster decision-making in case of changes.
